Moving Pharmaceutical PAT From Theory to Practice: Take Your Laptop to San Juan for Hands-On Training in NIR and Chemometrics, and ROI Assessment

(ContentDesk) October 19, 2005 -- The use of NIR spectroscopy and mathematical modelling is allowing more pharmaceutical companies to improve quality and reduce waste in their drug development and manufacturing efforts.
However, most courses now available tackle the two topics separately, and many present them in theoretical terms.A new course, developed by the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, IBS Caribe and Bruker Optics and Umetrics, will, instead, take a "hands on" approach designed to allow students to become comfortable with both tools.
Students will obtain spectra of blends, granulations and compressed tablets, and, studying detailed real-world case studies, use advanced multivariate analysis and design of experiments software to solve the kinds of problems most relevant to them.
They will also be shown a process for determining Return on Investment (ROI) from applying these concepts to their unique operations.Students will also receive a free 30-day free trial version of multivariate analysis and design of experiments software.Because of the practical nature of this course, admission will be limited to 25 students only.
The class should be particularly useful to
production and quality assurance professionals, scientists and engineers, technical managers, as well as those familiar with PAT who wish to expand their repertoires.

Registration will be $1,195.00 before November 18th ($1,395 thereafter), and proceeds will go to the UPR-Mayaguez PAT Center of Excellence fund, which supports education, research and demonstration of PAT tools in the life sciences at universities in Puerto Rico. For more information, visit pharmamanufacturing.com/industrynews/2005/376.htm, the web site of the event's Media Partner, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing magazine..

Do you try to stifle desires to send them to private schools because of the cost or the perceived 'elitist' mentality? Speech Course For A Stutter

This article describes the type of stutter speech courses which are available. In general they are designed to help people who stutter to achieve fluency.

During the first couple of days of the course, this is where the stutter speech coach normally describes the techniques which are required to overcome the stutter.

The first day is normally the most important day. This is the client's easy day, as the coach will do most of the talking, explaining in detail around half of the speech rules required to beat the stutter. They are likely to ask the client to talk about their history, including information about how their stutter started, about their family, about their interests, plus any other information they would like to disclose for example, where they work. The client will have at least one further speech task on this first day, which they will be asked to complete after they have heard the first set of rules.
